Nature Coast Inshore Fishing

Fishing Florida the way it should be

North of the overcrowded fisheries of Central and South Florida lies the Nature Coast, an area where time has stood still. On this coast, you will not find any million dollar homes or high rise condos that litter the shoreline. You will see an unpopulated coastline that has remained the way nature intended for centuries. This vast unpopulated area is an intricate maze of oyster bars, limestone shelves and pristine turtle grass flats that provide habitat to overwhelming numbers of inshore game fish.

Fly Fishing for Redfish

Fly fishing for Redfish on the Nature Coast is truly a rewarding pursuit. In the areas where we fly fish, anglers will be amazed by crystal clear waters that mirror that of the Florida Keys. This is a sight fisherman’s paradise where good numbers of redfish can routinely be seen tailing, cruising shorelines, and laying in ambush under overhanging mangrove tree’s. These redfish remain unpressured by fly fisherman and generally willingly take flies if presented well. Whether you’re someone just starting to saltwater fly fish or a battle hardened veteran of the sport, look no further than the nature coast to catch redfish on fly.

Top-water / Artificial Redfish Fishing

The sight of a redfish inhaling a top-water plug is something that an angler will never forget. We are fortunate on the nature coast to have some of the most un-pressured, aggressive redfish found anywhere in the state. Most of top-water fishing for redfish occurs in small bays and tidal creeks where the redfish are hunting for congregating finger mullet. The redfish in our area also tail quite frequently with the right conditions, allowing anglers excellent opportunities with soft plastics as well. The soft plastic and spoon fishing on the outside oyster bars and grass flats for redfish and trout is consistently phenomenal almost year round. Anglers of all skill levels will love fishing artificial lures on the nature coast for redfish.

Low Tide Hole Hopping for Redfish

During the winter months on the Nature Coast, on the new and full moon we experience large low tides. When this occurs the flats and creeks that are normally a foot deep become less than an inch deep in most places. Redfish and trout retreat to the small pockets of water (holes) dotted throughout the inland grass flats. Specialized boats allow us to run in this very shallow environment giving us the opportunity to target these small concentrations of fish that are totally inaccessible to other anglers. The result is hungry, unpressured redfish in staggering numbers. This type of fishing is awesome for the seasoned angler who wants to try something new, all the way to the beginner who wants to catch fish after fish. These trips only allow for about 10 days a month in correspondence with the tide and moon phase. If you’re interested in something new and the trip of a lifetime don’t wait too long as dates fill up rapidly.
